Still life in Bloom

Bright Swedish painting of flowers including orange gladioli, white phlox, blue iris and red poppies in an ornate, white ceramic vase. The artist captures the shadow of the bouquet in the background, creating a sense of depth and detail alongside the fallen petals below.

Signed Erik Jerken, 1898-1947. Jerken's eclectic, colourful works are held in museums all over Sweden, including the Moderna Museet and the National Museum in Stockholm.
